Chiraumi Restaurant Paikaji ~ 美ら海食堂 南風: An Okinawan restaurant located about 1.1 km from Bettei Tateyama. This is the restaurant I go to when I’m tired of seafood and BBQ for consecutive nights. It is run by a husband and wife, and the wife from Okinawa is in charge of cooking, and you can enjoy authentic Okinawan cuisine at a reasonable price. If it’s not crowded, her husband will give you a lecture on shamisen.
Fisherman’s cuisine TATEYAMA: The largest seafood restaurant in the Minamiboso ~ Tateyama area. It’s about 2.5 km away from Bettei TATEYAMA, but if you come by car, why don’t you stop by before check-in? There is also a small foot bath to soothe your tired legs from the drive to Tateyama. It’s a bit pricey for a lunch menu, but it’s worth it.
Minamiboso Container Kitchen: It is about 4 km from Bettei TATEYAMA. It is close to the highway entrance (Tomiura IC) and is recommended for your last meal in Tateyama.
Hakata cuisine Hiroshi-chan: In a stylishly renovated restaurant, you can enjoy Hakata cuisine and vegetable skewers. It is run by three young and energetic women. There are also common dishes such as rice balls, and overall, you can enjoy them at a very reasonable price.
Casa Fresca： If you want to eat authentic Western food in Tateyama, this is it. It is located about 800m from Bettei TATEYAMA. It’s like a hideaway, and the inside of the store is a little dark.
Yakiniku Dining YAMATO: Tateyama is a fierce battleground for yakiniku restaurants. YAMATO is a yakiniku restaurant located about 500 meters from Bettei TATEYAMA, and it is the restaurant that I go to when I aam tired and can’t gook a BBQ this time. It is often crowded, so it is better to make a reservation before going.
Bono bono: About 400 meters from Bettei TATEYAMA, the nearest izakaya. It’s not that anything is particularly delicious, but it’s well-balanced and has a good atmosphere. There are also tatami seats. It has a lot of autographs from celebrities such as baseball players in the store.
KURUMAYA Ramen: A ramen shop located about 1 km from Bettei TATEYAMA. It is a spacious restaurant with table seats, so you can enjoy a leisurely meal with children.
HAMA sushi: It is about 2.5 km from Mt. Betteikan. On the way back to Tokyo from Tateyama, if you’re wondering what to eat, you can’t go wrong with Hama Sushi. One dish starts at 100 yen, and most cost-effective restaurant.
Mon Réve Tateyama: A Western-style restaurant located a 3-minute walk from Tateyama Station. When you come to Tateyama by train, if you have a little time to check in, you can have lunch here. The owner-chef, who trained at a French restaurant, will serve you game (a dish made with wild boar or deer meat) and Chiba’s famous fried horse mackerel.
Road-side Station Furari-Tomiyama: It has been operating in a prefabricated building for renovation since April 2022, but it was reopened in July 2023 (which will also be the end of Covid). In addition to the ramen shop and aji fried restaurant that have been in the restaurant for a long time, there is also a stylish Italian pizzeria restaurant, making it a restaurant that can be enjoyed by men and women of all ages. It is accessible from both highways and ordinary roads. It is 15 km from Bettei TATEYAMA (less than 30 minutes by car).
Shopping for food
Super market ODOYA: It is a supermarket located about a 5-minute walk from Bettei Tateyama (our guest house), and not only fresh food, side dishes, and daily miscellaneous goods, but also charcoal for BBQ. Business hours are 8:30~22:00.
Aeon Town Tateyama: Located about 2.5 km from Bettei TATEYAMA, is a large shopping mall that houses Aeon, Nitori, Yamada Denki, etc. It is also convenient for shopping when you run out of clothes of clothes. Business hours are 10:00~21:00.
Seven Eleven Tateyama Hojo-kaigan: It is the closest convenience store to Bettei Tateyama, about 1.2 km away. It seems to be a store on the seafront, and even sells swimsuits and straw hats in the summer.
Marui Fresh Fish Shop is a fish shop located about 5 km from Bettei TATEYAMA, and various ideas such as online sales and tavern management are being made. Of course, the fish from ODOYA and AEON are also delicious, but since it is a big deal, I would like to reserve a sashimi platter at a Marui fresh fish store. Telephone reservations are required until the day before. There are also rare fish that are hard to find in supermarkets.
Road-side Station TOMIURA: It is a large roadside station located about 200 meters from Tateyama Road and Tomiura IC, where you can eat, buy seafood, and buy souvenirs. It is convenient to buy Tateyama souvenirs, and the souvenir center is open from 10:00 ~ 18:00. If you’re not sure what to buy, try an assortment of sweets sold by weight!
Bakerly NAKAMURAYA: Located about 1 km from Bettei TATEYAMA, this bakery is popular in Tateyama area. It is located just a short distance from Tateyama Station, and it is convenient to buy souvenirs such as cakes when you meet on the way. Business hours are 8:00~16:00.
Breakfast at the eat-in on the second floor is also recommended.
