I bought a 50-year-old house near Hakone-Itabashi Station in Odawara City (less than 2 hours by local train from Tokyo) and renovated it with the aim of creating a cozy second home. It is close to Hakone, which is a tourist destination, and the sea, and there are various places to play, so when I am not using it myself, I have started renting it out as a private lodging inn “Bettei Odawara Hakoneguchi”.
airbnb Bettei Odawara Hakoneguchi
I sometimes invite friends to stay at “Bettei Odawara Hakoneguchi”, but it is difficult to do all the shikiri by myself, such as “Where is XX, if you want to do XX by XX and go out to eat or take a walk nearby, XX is recommended”. I thought it would be just as difficult to Mr./Ms. the leader of an Airbnb trip, so I tried to make a list that I could give to my companion and say, “Look at this!”
Minatono Asagohan ~ Breakfast at the port ( 1.3km from the inn )
Odawara-Hayakawa Port, which is about a 15-minute walk from “Bettei Odawara Hakone Exit”, is a tourist spot, and various sites have a special feature on seafood bowl lunches that can be enjoyed there. However, there are only a limited number of places where you can eat breakfast, and “Minatono Asagohan” is one of them.
Aji fried and licked set meal (1,300 JPY)
Tempra TENKO (0.05km from the inn)
This restaurant has a reputation as the most delicious tempura restaurant in Odawara.
The 7,500~13,500 JPY course at night is hard to afford, but you can eat lunch for 1,400 yen.
Yakuzen Cafe “KURA” (0.5km from the inn)
Odawara, which was a post town in the Edo period, has a historic street when you step into it from the main street, and you can enjoy cafes and restaurants that have been renovated from old warehouses.
Yakuzen Cafe KURA is one of them, and you can enjoy a quiet adult time (although it is a little touristy). → KURA’s Instagram
Tea Factory Joshun-en ~ 如春園 ~ (0.6km from the inn)
A little further from KURA, you will find a tea house; Joshun-en.
From the appearance of the building, I thought it was a Japan-style tea shop, but it will be a shop that serves colorful Indian black tea and Indian curry.
Izakaya ENISHI (0.3km from the inn)
From the outside, it looks like a rather stylish izakaya, but,,,, once inside, you’ll find yourself in an incredibly niche izakaya that’s sure to please any collector. Izakaya Enishi is enjoyed by local regulars and foreign tourists alike.
Odawara Castle (1.3km from the inn)
Odawara Castle is lit up at night, and it is a real photo spot.
Minaka Odawara (1.5km from the inn)
Just outside the Odawara Station building you will find the complex shopping center, Minaka Odawara.
The design is based on the image of an old castle town, and even LAWSON is stylish.
In addition to the food area, there is also a free foot bath on the rooftop overlooking the Pacific Ocean. → Minaka Odawara’s Instagram.
Miyuki Beach !! (1.5km from the inn)
We pass under the long seawall that runs along the Pacific Ocean and head out to sea. This photo spot is known as the “Magic Window” and is also featured on the Odawara City official website. → Magical Window’s Instagram
